A Game of Chicken

For more than 65 years the United States has been the superpower of the world and the center of attention, but throughout history, it has demonstrated that huge empires reign their power for about 200 years and superpower only last less than 100 years. It is possible that China will now claim the title. Trade disputes have for months been the focus of souring relations between the United States and China. China being one of the worlds greatest nation for trade is now setting their foot down and now trying to take dominance over the trade between them and the US. The strategy for showing dominance revolves around how each country can assert military dominance in the Pacific Ocean. China has continued to place military equipment and installations on rocks and reefs in the South China Sea, over which it claims it's for sovereignty. Chinese do not describe their actions as militarization; they accuse the United States of militarizing the sea with its freedom-of-navigation ship operations and overflights. Both the US and China are trying to show dominance and intimidate each other with the fear of their militaries but intimidation would lead to anger in where one of the nations starts another great war by delivering the first blow. This is a game of chicken neither nation wants to lose
